The formla of a midpoint of AB:

[tex]M\left(\dfrac{x_A+x_B}{2},\ \dfrac{y_A+y_B}{2}\right)[/tex]

We have A(-3, -7) and B(-1, 1). Substitute:

[tex]x_M=\dfrac{-3+(-1)}{2}=\dfrac{-4}{2}=-2\\\\y_M=\dfrac{-7+1}{2}=\dfrac{-6}{2}=-3[/tex]

Answer: M(-2, -3)
